GUNFIGHTER DESIGN CUSTOM
Custom made hunting, fishing and outdoor use knives and custom cutlery.
Handmade functional art. I have always found knives to be one of the most important tools throughout my entire life. Just about every person on every part of the planet depend on knives on a daily basis. Whether it to be used to prepare food, process game, cut cordage, open packages, cut airbags from a crashed car or even for self-defense. Knifes are of the most primal and most used tools in the world.
I grew up hunting and fishing and later spent time in the Marine Corps as a Scout Sniper. A knife was always by my side. Usually used for mundane tasks like opening MREs or cleaning toe jam from under my nails and still an extension of myself, a part of my personality a part of my livelihood. On a few occasions I used my knife as a breaching tool to hack through a locked door or pry open a window. Those times are the times I realized a knife needs to be sturdy very sturdy. I broke a knife at the worst possible time, when it was impossible to replace it and when I needed it most. Since that day I longed for a stronger knife one that can handle the rigors of war and still be useful to open boxes or skin an elk or to slice tomatoes for a BLT.
25 years of working with steel, building, designing and fabricating elaborate chassis and suspensions I felt it was time for a change. It was time for me to take a step back, time to create something as functional as it is beautiful, time to make serious and primal tools for people who enjoy rugged functionality paired with artistic finesse.

GUNFIGHTER DESIGN-About US
Gunfighters
Robert Ziarnick: Growing up in the remote mountains of North Idaho I spent a great deal of time hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. A knife was always in my pocket or on my belt. At 16 I started working with metal, welding and working on cars, this led me to my first knife build forged out of a rolled Chevy parts truck I had bought for the axles. I also joined the Navy while in high school with the hopes to join the SEAL teams after finding I was ineligible to even try out for BUD/S I dropped out of school to get out of the Navy. Two years went by and every day I regretted my decision. My grandfather, a retired LA county sheriff and Marine talked me into contacting a Marine recruiter. A month later I had my GED and was at the MEPS signing my life away to the USMC. I had a goal in mind to become a Scout Sniper and was quickly given that opportunity after being assigned to Lima Company to 3rd Battalion 1st Marines 1st MARDIV. My first school Urban Reconnaissance and Surveillance had me hooked and motivated. In March 2002 I graduated High Shooter from the legendary 1st MARDIV Sniper School at that point I had been a Marine for only a year and a month, 2 days later I was on the USS Belleau Wood LHA-3 with the11th MEU heading for the Middle East and Africa. During that deployment my good friend Buck and I came up with the idea to buy a used box truck to start a knife shop in the barracks parking lot. That idea never came to fruition because we were immediately redeployed on the USS Bonhomme Richard LHD-6 for OIF-1. After returning CONUS I attended SERE School, DEST, PDHAS, CWSS, Mountain Scout Sniper, MCMAPS green belt instructor course, a few other schools and training evolutions. A short time later I was back in Iraq for OIF-2. In 2005 I got out of the Marines with a TBI and PTSD my life was in a massive downward spiral and by august of 2006 I was on my 4th serious Suicide attempt that landed me in the hospital for 5 years of intensive inpatient treatment. Suicide saved my life. While in the hospital I attended college for machining and for automotive technician, which I turned into a career building high-end hotrods, retromods, off road vehicles and racecars. As a hobby I started forging straight razors and knives. My good friend (brother really) Buck was visiting and we drew up our dream knife it took a few years and a move for me to get around to actually make it and when I did get it done I knew I had something fresh that no one else was making. Gunfighter Design and Fabrication is born October 2018, which I started as a venture into my own fab shop, I quickly began making more and more knives and my hobby became a full time job and overtook my regular fab shop and car building. February 2021 I was hit head on by a drunk driver and have been in recovery and therapy every since. A growing business and diminished ability to keep up with production demands I made the decision to take on a business partner... Meet Eric a fellow Sniper legit badass and Distinguished Service Cross recipient.
Eric Moser: Grew up in Tomball, Tx involved in anything outdoors. active in scouts earned Eagle Scout. His high school didn't have auto shop or any real tech programs just prepping students for college. Eric was able to find what he was looking for in AgMech class getting immersed in welding/fabrication, with skidsteer maintance and grain silo calculations mixed in a bit. He started modifing his SUV with custom roof racks, headache racks for his trucks, and building just about anything he could dream up. Which later lead to custom bumpers, sliders, and dune buggy's. Eric aspired to join the service to mirror his grandfather who was a retired Green Beret. His mom being an Army Brat wished for Eric to give college a try first. So he attended Texas A&M for 1.5 years studying Mechanical Engineering then left to pursue his dream of being a Green Beret like his grandfather. Serving in the 82nd Airborne, 10th Special Forces Group as a 18C Engineer, and 3.5 years as a Special Forces Sniper Course marksmanship instructor. Eric began applying the 1.5 years of Mechanical Engineering degree from Texas A&M to making things for his co workers. In off time during his instructor time. Eric started making a product using a manual Milling machine to help the sniper community. realizing turning machine dials to make these one at a time wasn’t a business. Eric set out and taught himself Solidworks, BOBCAD/CAM and Fusion 360 to gain access to 3D CAD(computer aided design) and CAM(Computer-Aided Manufacturing) to make parts more efficiently. Converting his manual Mill to CNC himself. To self fund his CNC machining endeavor Eric started taking on custom firearms projects. ie. racing out pistols for 3 Gun competitors and building precision bolt guns and AR’s for competitors across the competitive shooting spectrum. Eric is proficient at forging and blacksmithing knives and is perfecting his knife making skills as a source of stress relief and enjoyment. When the opportunity arrived to partner with Gunfighter Design and Rob Ziarnick, their instant friendship and commonalities in knife making (and military brotherhood) really aligned for them to be able to collaborate to bring some great knives to the industry.
